I worked at ICON Health & Fitness full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The commission structure was very good for the extended warranties and even for parts and service calls. Many of the benefits were good including the health insurance, 401K, etc

    Cons

I often felt micromanaged. The environment for customer service reps is extremely intense since there is often not enough work force due to the high turnover and difficulty of the job.

    Advice to Management

Give employees some freedom and hire enough work force to take care of calls.

    Pros

I got paid very little, but I did receive health insurance and (most of the time) weekends off. I got a turkey for my Christmas bonus and a trip to a Lagoon (theme park) in the late summer.

    Cons

I occasionally had to work on Saturdays and I hardly had any vacation (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Independence Day, Labor Day). No flexible time off. I didn't feel like the management listened to input from the workers.

    Advice to Management

Consider applying lean operational excellence techniques and promote a culture of continuous improvement, especially to engage employees and improve operations.
