I have been working at IDG full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Relaxed work environment but everyone works hard.
Privately owned so chasing short term profits isn't as important as making long terms strategic decisions.
Good benefits.
You get to see the founder every year during the holidays.

Cons

Decentralized business units and brands can make it a bit political and feels like we canabalize on ourselves sometimes.
Salaries seem a bit lower than other campanies in the industry.
Not a ton of room to grow within the company.
Very lean with with staffing

I worked at IDG full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people, culture and work life balance. They match non-profit donations and the owner is smart and kind. Interesting mix of titles in their portfolio.

    Cons

The pay is on the low side. When I left in 2009 layoffs were happening in most business divisions on a regular basis.
