Positive Outlook

I have been working at IFPRI full-time (More than a year)

Pros

- Colleagues have high level of expertise
- Friendly work environment
- Interesting projects in a variety of food policy related fields
- Opportunities to travel, and work with collegues in a variety of countries

Cons

- There is a strict ceiling for employees who don't have a PhD. Master-level research support positions do not tend to offer much opportunities for career advancement.
- While salaries can go up according to effectiveness on the job, there isn't much opportunity for increasing/changing of responsibility
- Overall salaries are on the low side
- Relatively low salaries and lack of career advancement for non-PhD staff leads to a fair amount of turnover

Advice to Management

Need to continue efforts at creating career tracks for individuals who do not have a PhD.
