Pros

There are some great people working at IGT, at interactive we have all the right ideas, some very smart coworkers. Good work life balance here, no crazy hours other than emergencies.

Cons

There is so much political power playing at this company, it is almost impossible to get anything done. Senior management are mostly from other industries and are pretty clueless. The amount of time spent here trying to answer the same questions over and over is unbelievable. The policy of recruiting management from outside the company means career progression is almost nonexistent, if you want a promotion you pretty much have to leave.

Advice to Management

IGT is a depressing place, there is so much potential here. Try investing in your people to create loyalty and harness your workers ambitions, instead of relying on non-competes and just replacing people when they leave.

    I worked at IGT full-time

    Pros

There are a few good people left after the scorched earth removal of most that knew the industry and game development. It would be considered a fun industry by some (not me).

    Cons

Employees moral is low. They have lost many of their prime game developers. The executive management, especially, and some of middle management is very poor. There is little loyalty to employees.

    Advice to Management

    Resign.

I have been working at IGT full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some very good people and even a handful of very good middle managers.
Work hours are reasonable if you work in the right department.
    Some get free cowboys boots.

    Cons

Shameless self-promoters fast tracked for promotion and recognition.
Poor, destructive employees retained and promoted, good employees quit, often to less paying jobs just to escape.
No peer reviews to filter out above.
Obscene non-compete agreement strangles career opportunities for individual contributors.
Long standing employees fired and then told to sign 1 year non-compete or not receive severance pittance.
Executive management does not walk the talk.
Executive hypocrisy - 2% cap on raises across the board, while CEO buys new GulfStream jet and uses it for personal trips.
No golden parachutes for individual contributors.
And on and on ... more to come in comments section.

    Advice to Management

    Title says it all.
    Lead by example.
Walk the talk and show us you have the courage to change.
Get jobs at Taco Bell, you already know someone who can get you in.
