I worked at IGT full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Everybody seemed easy going compared to most places. I also worked at Bally Tech and I hated it there! Way too up tight. IGT is a better place to work for hands down except the fact that everyone is scared of getting laid off!

Cons

Big budget cuts as of late but the pay was still better and the benefits were good for comparable jobs.

Advice to Management

Everybody is afraid of losing their jobs. It really hurts to see the execs spending money on new office furniture and also report good earnings when they are laying off friends and family all at the same time.

I worked at IGT full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Can use a stale calzone from the cafeteria to commit suicide.

    Nine dollar garbanzo bean salads.

    The coffee finally has flavor.

    Free binders.

Tangerine golf shirts for middle management.

Plenty of vacant conference rooms to nap in.

    Cons

People whining about the layoffs. The best part of working here is getting fired from here.

One of the dumbest re-branding campaigns in history.

The people worth getting a drink with left long ago.

    Advice to Management

Wash your hands before you leave the bathroom.

I worked at IGT full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Smart, hard-working colleagues with a lot of knowledge and insight, but rarely did management consult with them, or want to hear about obstacles. Great relations on my team, but silo'd teams in the department. On-site cafeteria and gym are convenient.

    Cons

Little communication about overall strategy of company. Few promotions from within beyond Manager level. Employee recognition nil; morale down. So many re-orgs, people can't gain momentum. Lay-offs every year. Silos building back up out of fear and "head down getting work done." Upper management not practicing what they preach.

    Advice to Management

Hold people accountable for getting off the financial roller coaster instead of walking knowledge out the door as the solution. Ask your people for ideas of greatness, then give them the leaders that will take them there. Build back the pride people had years back in working for this company.
