I have been working at IKEA full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

-affordable and diverse health, dental and vision benefits
-generous paid leave, that grows with tenure
-ability to have input on company direction through many different levels of management, open communication.
-management positions offer the ability to lead your business like an owner

Cons

-business direction & initiatives can change either suddenly, seemingly on a whim, or very slowly
-there's a cultural gap between European and North American management that can create a disconnect. Coordination of business priorities aren't consistent between divisions of the company.
-American employees either go overboard with the company culture or fail to understand it entirely. New employees can find the company difficult to understand.

Advice to Management

-be consistent
-be open
-look past your own business to see the bigger picture

I have been working at IKEA part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pretty sweet co-workers, everyone is usually nice. Decent training program. Pretty nice uniforms.

    Cons

Takes too long to apply to a different department. High standards for low pay. Very formalized HR process. The efficiency of the department largely rest with the management of the department, so you see a lot of lacking departments and others excelling.

    Advice to Management

Less stringent and more flexible... Teach to the core of the values.. Not specificity that is so rigid.

I have been working at IKEA part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    People, Managers, Work schedule:

I think everyone is fair, they want you to create a good working world by listening and helping you as you move up or stay where you are.

    Cons

None at the moment. If there was one thing i guess it would be that you have to push to get better, improve your standing. I'm used to working hard and having the managers or owners recommend the next step, at Ikea they want you to do all the work, figure out whet the next step will be and then they will put some thing in place for you. I don't know, its something that takes getting used to i guess, its not bad its just different.

    Advice to Management

Come up with steps to achieve goals for workers that want them. Keep the goals clear and help push them to succeed.
