I worked at IRI full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Good place to gain an understanding of the industry. Reasonable amount of freedom to balance work/life. It seems acceptable to work whenever you want. Good exposure to market research.

Cons

Politics of the office can consume most of your day. The quality of the data and reports delivered to clients is poor. Employees are not developed nor trained very well. Every process is bogged down giving you a sence of loss every time you try to accomplish anything. No one is held accountable, no one takes responsibility.

Advice to Management

Take a walk around, view a few people who care and work hard, build your business around them.

    Pros

    Exposure to many clients
    Being able to work with a data base that has a tremendous amount of power but the tool always breaks

    Cons

    Management is terrible. They have been there since the stone age.
    No one at the company talks to one another. Each division is siloed
    If you are onsite with the client you will never know what happens with your own company
    There is no company culture what so ever. You are a slave to the client
