Illinois State is a great place to work with endless potential. As a state job, you get many of the perks that most state jobs provide (medical, dental, life). The work/life balance is really commendable at Illinois State University. The upper management in most of the departments is definitely willing to give their employees some much needed time off. Since it is a university, there are constantly top talent being drawn towards positions at Illinois State, creating a diverse, articulate, and capable work force.

    Cons

Illinois State is in Normal, IL, which is a wonderful small midwestern town. However, many people who are from Chicago originally do not appreciate the slower pace.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Flexibility to work across areas, with the benefits of a much larger company

    Cons

Advancement is limited by your educational degree which is true at all Universities. There is only so far you can advance without a Masters degree and then to go higher a Ph.D and teaching experience

    Advice to Management

You do a wonderful job of outreach, but you are not often seen in the workplaces of your people. Go visiting and ask about what is good and what could be improved. Your people would give you valuable advice
