Pros

Improving is where all of the most talented software developers, architects, business analysts, project managers, and quality assurance experts go to work and solve challenging problems for clients. The culture is open and nurturing, and the management is honest and as dedicated to employee growth and happiness as they are to customer satisfaction.

Cons

Not a whole lot of cons. If you're not a self-starter and don't take a lot of initiative you might be frustrated by the lack of structure, but overall, the opportunities are there if you seize them.

Advice to Management

Keep providing employees the opportunities to grow and share experiences by learning from one another. Keep providing opportunities for employees to shape and change the organization.

I have been working at Improving full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. Improving is 100% focused on building up their employees. Everything they do for their employees is focused on improvement, involvement, advancement, happiness.
    2. There is no overhead, no bull-puckey, no drama. Just be great, everything else is taken care of.
    3. 100% Transparency--Improving keeps us in the loop on finances, on potential clients, etc.
    4. Employee Incentive Program--Improving wants you to get paid for your extracurricular activities. Do you attend user groups for Java? Did you go to that code conference? Speak at it? Did you write a blog post? You can count all of those toward your quarterly bonus program!
    5. Every single 'executive' I've met has been awesome, kind, honest, supportive, and down to earth. No jerks driving yellow corvettes here.

    Cons

If you don't like working for a small company, Improving isn't for you. If you just want to show up, do your job 34 hours a week, and go home, Improving isn't for you.

    Advice to Management

I think management is currently overloaded and could use a little assistance.

I have been working at Improving full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You get to work with excellent peers who frequently presents at conferences and are known in the local developer communities
People are laid back, approachable, friendly and happy to help you
Improving have high standards when hiring people, I haven't met anyone that I didn't think had enough skills for their position to work here
Many employees that leave the company return later and are welcomed back
You can attend training that Improving holds in their office if they have space available for no cost

    Cons

There's no formal mentorship program, if you need a mentor you are expected to talk to peers
You have to use PTO for any kind of training

    Advice to Management

The employees have to take the full cost for training (books, online training, conferences). It would be great if there was a small education stipend to help offset some of the costs.
