I have been working at In-Shape Health Clubs full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great changes are happening company wide. New CEO and other higher managment changes recently. Pro member/member retention outlook important to company. Managment pay structure has changed to be more competitive for the industry. Company now hiring qualified candidates for upper Managment and corporate positions.

    Cons

Uniform-too much "Blue" all staff from Managment to Housekeeping wearing Blue Under Armor.
Starting wage is minimum wage for all departments including Housekeeping. Disconnect from corporate to clubs in regards to paid holidays. No work/life balance for GM. Benefits not good or competive with the size of company. Pay/benefit cost extremely high. Do not offer flexible spending account. FSA Budget for kids club is too little for amount of children company has at one time. 15 to 1 ratio.

    Advice to Management

Mix up uniforms for Managment *Black/Grey Under Armor options. Housekeeping - works with chemicals and takens care of pools as well as clean entire facility. Increase pay and increase retention and hire qualified candidates. Club level Managment should not have to take PTO for days Corporate office closed. Option for additional PTO hours or option for Managers to take day off would be appreciated. Should not be only geared to sales. Benifits offered are not great for the size of company. No HMO plans offered. PPO is ver expensive with high deductibles. Offer HMO options and Flexible Spending accounts to help with affordability with co-pays etc. Kids club budget should not be based of prior year. Memberships numbers have increased with many more children especially under age of 18 months. Allow GM to have more say in what Budget needs to be for the safety of members children.
