I worked at InVision Human Services for more than 3 years

    Pros

Supervisors team is great we supported each other at times of need. Program Managers provided great support and always an open door to discuss issues or any concerns. Great pension plan. Enjoyed most of the individuals I worked with and staff. I will say this agency has had success with many of the individuals. Awesome to see them improve when hiring the right fit in staff for the individual.

    Cons

Staff turn over, and scheduling or pulling staff to work at houses with individuals they were not familiar with. Accepting referrals of clients that are not appropriate for the program. Higher management will not accept that at times they made a mistake in accepting an individual who is not appropriate for the program. They continue to serve the individual not advocating for staff. Positive choices for the individual...

    Advice to Management

Change the on call for supervisor. Suggestion in the past to have supervisor on call one day a week and weekends. Each rotate. Less stress for the supervisors and they wanted this but management would not consider. Seriously review referrals and get all information prior to accepting. The training of staff via phone calls ISP does not work seek a better way to train staff that are being placed in a home with a client...

I have been working at InVision Human Services full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Two and a half day block shifts with four and a half days off. Lots of opportunities for overtime if you are willing and able to do it.

    Cons

You are expected to stay overnight without pay at the individuals home. Coworkers and supervisors can be very unproffesional with their interactions with individuals and other staff. There are a lot of cliques, crossing boundaries, and inappropriate relationships between support staff and supervisors so when a long time DSP is crossing boundaries, not doing their job accordingly or working well with other co-workers the...

    Advice to Management

It is normal to develope friendships in a work place but, importantly you all must remember your roles as supervisors and managers. Good leaders are impartial and look at situations from all sides. Mabey offering 8 hour shifts instead of block shifts for the harder to staff more challenging individuals will help keep those individuals homes staffed since 56 hour block shifts is a lot of hours to be spending with an individual...
