          Pros

Large company with good cash-based pay (base and bonus). Ability to grow and hire if you’re under the right leadership and you can tolerate culture challenges.

          Cons

Traditional lines of business (e.g. technology delivery, BPM, and Domain Consulting are favored by sales and account leadership (CSGs). CSGs are used to a lowest-price sales approach and push for unsustainable low or negative margins on Management Consulting making it hard to win and hire. Consulting is often brought in to help the sale and then cut out of the deal for price after the win - frequently without any communication. Bad culture of financial competition at the expense of peers rather than collaborating based on trust to win bigger deals. Clients are moving away from India-based firms in favor of higher quality delivery and automation.

If you have a CS background, choosing to go into consulting feels like such a big downgrade. You could have been working hands-on with the newest technology. Instead you’re babysitting a bunch of adults and making sure they talk to each other and things are done on time

How do you interview for a position when you are under-qualified based on seniority but not based on skills? I’m ~2 years into consulting, and I have an upcoming interview for an associate director position. However, I am just shy of the minimum YOE requirement included on the job application and relatively young (though I meet all of the other requirements). Any advice on convincing the hiring manager I am ready for a mid-level role?
