I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Great place to work
Most cutting edge product development
Opportunity in multiple technologies/desciplines
Good benifits

Cons

Longer decision making needs to be fixed which is due to bigger hierarchy

Advice to Management

Keep focus and do not impact decisions due to lower ASPs as that might be the hard future to live with.
Try to develop products in single site instead of cross site which is highly efficient.

    Pros

It's a great company to gain experience working with the latest technologies and some of the smartest people anywhere. There are always opportunities to move into other roles, either permanently or on a temporary assignment. The company has done a lot in recent years to improve the stale cube environment.

    Cons

Work/life balance is non-existent. There is a reason they give all employees laptops and it's not because they want you to telecommute (only one day a week is allowed)... it's because they expect you to be available for early morning or late night calls, weekends and holidays. The pfmn management system rewards individual accomplishments over team/company goals, so there is very little collaboration or knowledge sharing.

    Advice to Management

Stop promoting people into management roles who have no management ability or training. Just because someone is an outstanding individual contributor does not mean that person will necessarily be a good, or even a competent people manager. At least put some effort into training new managers so that the employee morale will be better.

I have been working at Intel Corporation as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Stable company. Relaxed atmosphere with an open door policy. Perks and benefits comparable to others in the tech industry. Opportunities for horizontal movement plentiful.

    Cons

One of the older tech companies. Fresh ideas are harder to realize because of an older, more cautious employee base. Corporate structure is tighter than the newer tech giants. Work can get mundane fast and turnover to other divisions and companies common.

    Advice to Management

More hands on. Be micro-involved but not micro-managing. Understand the engineering challenges and reduce unnecessary red tape.
