    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits. Industry leading expertise in semiconductor engineering and manufacturing. Massive assets and capabilities. Best for people who have worked there for many years.

    Cons

Suffering effects of being a long-term monopoly on the processor platforms for PCs. Missed the turn to mobile and now suffering mightily as PC sales are plunging. Culture based on process-based manufacturing mindset, and misguided use of "process" to drive organization design. Senior executives admit the management culture does not value "emotional intelligence" - leading to micro-management, fear and mistrust pervasive throughout the culture. Business group "silo" structure and harsh political environment lead. Almost impossible for newcomers to be accepted into the culture ... and therefore it is not open to or able to assimilate new ideas. This myopic aspect is a direct challenge to the stated strategy of becoming more customer focused (outside-in vs. inside-out).

    Advice to Management

Seek new leadership from outside Intel - and develop ways to integrate new ideas and methods. Make clear delegation and accountability a cornerstone of the culture. Reorganize around integrated, market focused business groups. Identify and root-out (fire) senior executives who represent the worst of the old culture.
