Lots of little kingdoms that have different policies
Most training was internal based and can loose connection to outside world

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The work life balance is heavily tilted to the 'life' side; vacation is on the honor system, and tele-commuting is encouraged.
Nice Cafe` with subsidized meals for breakfast and lunch.

    Cons

If you enjoy design or verification, look elsewhere. This is a pure execution environment where the when, where, and how is dictated and creativity is not tolerated.

While informed 'risk-taking' is a documented value, few are willing to discuss alternative methods, flows, or tools, even when presented with quantifiable benefits (including industry standards)

Constant restructuring under the same leadership weighs heavily on morale and often times career changes are made without the input of those effected.

    Advice to Management

None, they are too "proud" to listen.

I have been working at Intel Corporation as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Intel looks good on a resume. it's big enough so if your contract is renewed for the maximum of 18 months, you don't have to worry about getting paid, like some small start-ups. There are 20 layers of management, that are all budget conscious, so if you like making out forms instead of working, you are all set !

    Cons

Unfortunately, temp workers (contingent workers, green badges) get no respect, even less than any other company I've worked in. They are not allowed to attend meetings, except when your first level manager really likes you, they are told nothing, given no resources,

    Advice to Management

    Find another Andy Grove!
