I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Merit based growth. Opportunities for growth. Great people to work with.

Cons

Software in a hardware company is not very well understood. It is getting better but upper management and program management is mostly full of hardware folks.

Advice to Management

Keep ahead of the curve.

I worked at Intel Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Structured training.
That's all I can think of.

    Cons

Archaic old out-of-date Intel one-dimensional thinking culture.
Green & Blue badge discrimination thingy is killing the company.
Wrong hiring, promotion & staff retention criteria & strategy. Only ppl who follow the system are promoted. Technology, culture & innovation interrupters are cocooned up & pushed aside.
Unwillingness to change biz model. Self harrakiri in this open globalized fast paced world.
Poor raise, promotions, reward & benefits.
Too many incompetent & inexperienced managers, red tape, paper work & redundant system.
Politically debilitating manoeuvres while real issue remain unresolved.
    Short-sighted planning.
Long working hours. Poor work life balance.
Insistence usage of old legacy process, defectivity & metrology tools in the name of copy exact when process capability & windows are no longer robust.
Missed out on many marts purely due to ego.
Dwindling native mart share, ASP & yield.
Going to be eclipsed in cash hoard, mart cap, yield, innovation, mart share & ASP in all segment by Europeans & Asian rivals pretty soon.
    Rampant over-capacity issues. Idling tools.
No longer attract the best talent.
    Repeated program failures.
    Slow delivery & rampant delays.
Headed the way of Nokia, RIM, HP, Dell & MSFT

    Advice to Management

    Sack 90% of all managers

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This is my first real job after getting my PhD, so I don't have much else to compare it to. I'm also relatively new, having only been here 10 months. That said: The things I like about the job: The pay is very good. Great perks, competent coworkers, challenging work, fun technology. There is a lot to learn, and a lot of it is very interesting and worthwhile from a basic science and understanding perspective.

    Cons

The job is very challenging, thus occasionally stressful. Long hours are expected, and being on-call is as bad as everybody had warned. There is a steep learning curve for new hires, and high expectations on getting up to speed quickly. Seemingly endless meetings and often unnecessary training hinder the learning and doing processes.

    Advice to Management

If you expect us to get so much done in so little time, perhaps consider giving us adequate time to do it by not having so many superfluous meetings/training classes.
