I have been working at Interactive Data full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company takes a very macro managerial styled approach. Empowering their employees to bring their skills & ideas to the table in order to be mutually successful.

    Cons

Our company puts candidates thru a lengthy hiring process to ensure that the "right" candidates are brought on board. This sometimes gives the wrong impression to potential applicants as they may have heard about our detailed interviewing process.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Interactive Data full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Decent work/life balance
    - Ability to work at home when needed
    - Fairly laid back and also a relaxed dress policy
    - Benefits are pretty good

    Cons

    - Private equity has taken a really good company and squeezed every possible penny out of IDC
    - Lack of direction from management causes a lot of confusion and a lack of focus
    - Senior management has not communicated a real direction
    - HR should look closer at why highly qualified people are leaving the company within 6 months of being hired
    - Little room to be promoted

    Advice to Management

Communicate with the masses. It's nice that they are having a quarterly global town hall but it makes sense to go and meet with the people that support the business. The company has some great people that you are going to lose because they are simply forgotten or not taken seriously. The CEO stated that he asked his direct reports to go out to talk to their subordinates. I haven't seen one in my area. Lastly, IDC should look at promoting internally rather than hire people from the outside. There are a lot of experienced people that would stay with IDC if there was a path to be promoted.
