I have been working at International Paper full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Great benefits, especially the 401k matching and healthcare options. Excellent career path development. Good coworkers who genuinely care about each other and doing a good job. Compensation is very competitive. Strong commitment to the environment and sustainability. The opportunity to follow your career path to other locations (some even international!).

Cons

The union leadership in the manufacturing facilities can be challenging to work with at times, however some of the union guys have been the best guys to work with in terms of knowledge and commitment.

Advice to Management

Streamlining the software and hardware technology adoption curve. Still using Office 2007 in 2014. Still using dated Dell laptop specs, etc. The move away from the BB to the iPhone was a good example of moving forward.

I have been working at International Paper full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Compensation is great, training is great, benefits are great

    Cons

International paper's management positions are predetermined and minorities are not treated equally when being considered. During training instructors in their late 40's were drinking with new employees like a frat party. They also made goals and training for minorities harder than their peers.

    Advice to Management

Sales associate program needs new leadership. You are losing amazing reps that could help your company in a changing environment. Trainers look at people of different races with skills they don't have and see them as a threat. It secures their place in the company but weakens IP's chances with competition. Your company is not as diverse as you may think it is.
