Pros

I have met lots of great people out on the road.
I have learned a tremendous amount about sales and the automotive industry.
The physical part of the job helps keep you in shape.
Keeping track of over 200 accounts has helped my management skills.

Cons

The owners are terribly unprofessional.
Pay based almost completely on commission is not good when working for dishonest people.
The physical aspects are not good for the long term health of your back.
The health benefits are useless when you can't take any time off to use them.
There is not much room to move up due to complete nepotism.
The product has gone down in quality recently, making it harder to sell.
There are no consistent policies from management, making it difficult to make decisions.

Advice to Management

Be honest, stop trying to steal from your employees and customers.
Speak to people with respect.
Be open with employees and customers. Secrecy only breeds rumors that are worse than the truth.
Pay employees competitively, treat them humanely, and maybe they won't run to work for the competition.

    Pros

The best reasons to work for IBSA (corporate office) would be (1) the Christian culture (2) the "promote within" and hire friends and family mentality (3) get to wear jeans and casual clothes (including tennis shoes) daily (4) access to work related as well as personal support (5) great family and personal benefits (6) everyone seems to be treated the same, no matter how far up on the food chain you are (7) free race tickets :o) (8) the level of respect from other companies, vendors, and individuals when you tell them you work for IBSA (9) the laid back culture - open door policy from upper management, and they actually listen to your compliments and complaints, and work towards a resolution if you have supporting documentation behind a complaint (10) listed by Dallas Morning News in 2009 as a "Recession Resistant Retail Company" which is hard to find with the current economy (11) never, in the history of the company, have they had a downsizing or layoff of corporate employees.

    Cons

Just as the friends / family employee culture can be positive, it can also backfire and become negative. For example, if an employee is under performing, upper management is much more lenient if the employee has "connections" somewhere in the company. This places a large burden on the other employees in the group that actually perform, and have to carry the weight of others. It also starts causing resentment and loyalty issues for those that seem to have better work ethics. I believe that one should be rewarded for good work ethics, and placed on a strict probation for poor work ethics, regardless of your "connections".

    Advice to Management

I would suggest that senior management, at the executive (VP and above) take another look at their directors, managers, and supervisors to determine if they are truly qualified to the position, and didn't receive their position somewhere down the line due to their "connections". There are many managers and directors that should not be in their position. I would listen to feedback from employees that work for these managers, as well as employees that have to interact with these managers on a daily / weekly basis.
