I have been working at Intuit full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

- Pay and benefits started out way above and beyond expectations, but have paired down a bit for newcomers.
- Never, ever bored; there are always new things coming up to work on.
- Your co-workers will your only allies.

Cons

- No teams seem to know who does what across the organization; if something breaks, everyone gets a call at 2am.
- Product Owners don't really take ownership of their products or even bother to learn how they work.
- Finances are not the most enthralling topic, but I knew this going in.
- The technology stack is ancient, and you need to be lucky enough to get onto a team trying to move away from it; you will never have priority over the flagship products however.
- Your QAs positions will be shipped overseas. This will be branded as 'internationalization', but the quality is sub-par, communication is delayed by 12 hours, and your team will suffer.
- You will have late nights all year, but more-so in the January - April time-frame. Its expected if your systems are even remotely involved with the tax business.

Advice to Management

When you say that layoffs don't happen because of a bad year, but then lay off people after two consecutive bad years (branded as 'restructuring unrelated to performance'), you kill morale for the long-timers. 20+ year veterans that were essential to my organization were removed unceremoniously and then replaced with two unskilled upstarts within a year later. This does not speak of integrity to me.

    Pros

    Very good benefit/compensation. Good people.

    Cons

Management does whatever it takes for the bottom line regardless of business practicality. Intuit does not nurture it's employees to advance. Very political. Feels like everybody has an agenda.

    Advice to Management

They should learn that managers tell people what to do. Leaders inspire them to it.

    Pros

    Great work/life balance
    Good benifits
    Great Values

    Cons

    Immigration policy for green-card sucks.
    worst in the industry

    Advice to Management

I love everything at Intuit except their policy to process green card in EB2 vs EB3.
Intuit sponsors Greencard in EB2 only if you are a staff engineer. no matter how many years of experience and degree you have. you can be a 20 years experienced person with a PHD and you are a Manager or Director. they still do it in EB3.
They do in EB2 only for couple of job titles (Staff Software engineer and Staff S/W engineer in Quality).
