Pros

Excellent medical, dental and eye benefits. Opportunity to learn new technology. Co-workers are friendly, intelligent and helpful. Offices allow quiet work environment and increased productivity. Excellent gym and clean, pleasant campus.

Cons

Middle management can form wrong opinions about employees, overreact, criticize instead of giving constructive feedback, and don't ask enough questions. It can be discouraging! You don't want to speak up about anything to management or they will hold it against you. Middle management wants everyone to be a cheerleader every day and every minute. If you don't appear excited then management thinks you are not committed. Some managers micro-manage and give you a day to day and hour to hour schedule. If you are lucky you will get a manager who is not so structured. Also too many layers of management. The widely praised work-life balance varies on the project you are working on and the goals set by your manager. Not a lot of staff engineers. It takes years to reach that level.

Advice to Management

Employees should be able to review their managers at mid-year just as managers are able to review employees at mid-year. Email messages don't have to be so harsh and abrupt when employees are doing their best. Managers should not overreact and make rash decisions. Be fair about granting conference opportunities equally to all employees in the group.

    Pros

Great business model. Company well run by strong business leaders

    Cons

Poor technology, outdated tools. Large CTO and IT teams, that does not deliver, and at the same time tries to force standards that slows down people that has clear business goals and revenues to deliver.

    Advice to Management

Allow the BUs to perform and deliver to employee, customers and shareholders.

I worked at Intuit full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Challenging environment because of poor system architecture

    Cons

Management scrambles a lot and is not current or up to speed with the times. Talks a good game but when it is time to deliver they fall short.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of middle management both figuratively and in name. Try hiring leaders instead.
