I have been working at Iron Mountain Inc full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Large company. Good employees especially the customer facing group. There is a great deal of talent.

Cons

Iron Mountain is becoming a REIT and that trumps everything. Mass layoff in Q4 of customer facing associates and the restructuring is just starting. The customer facing unit of Iron Mountain is very uncertain of their future and lacking confidence in what Senior Leadership is telling them. At the end of the day Iron Mountain will look very different moving into 2014. Look for more downsizing and the selling off of Service related revenue streams as the company moves back to its core of boxes in wherehouses. It is a difficult time to be an Iron Mountain employee if you are in Sales or Account Management. This is a true example of big business. The corporation will do what it intends to and this makes it a tough time to be in the rank and file.

Advice to Management

Get rid of the dead wait at the V.P level and in Corporate. There are some excellent Senior Leaders, but many that seem to be protected by a Teflon suit. They have been at IRM forever. Sales drives revenue and revenue grows the bottom line. The custmoer is King. Treat them like they are!

I worked at Iron Mountain Inc full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

for young sales guns who want to hustle OK $$ can be made. Not a glitzy business but steady.

    Cons

Too many changes to compensation plans over the last few years.

    Advice to Management

the Boston mentality is a big negative when it comes to the part where Mgm't should be building Employee loyalty instead of beating the troops down. Stop trying to ring $45/share out of Employees.

    Pros

Decent pay although commissions are capped, good benefits

    Cons

Low caliber people, unprofessionalism, inability to be agile with fast paced market demands, mid-level management's unwillingness to address issues that inhibit doing ones job without a lot of challenges.

    Advice to Management

Nothing that hasn't already been said before.
