    Pros

Pros depend on yourself. You have to love people and hospitality to work in a hotel, which I do, but your co-workers should also feel this way.

    Cons

Island hires people based on looks and not experience. All the managers are young and attractive and don't have real experience. They walk around like they are better than you and are unapproachable. Workers feel uncomfortable and have nowhere to turn to. Corporate cares more about the dollar they put in their pocket than about their employees well being. Not to mention their pay scale is ridiculously low. No such thing as raises. You'll get promised the world.. raises, bonus plans, incentives.. and then never follow through.

    Advice to Management

Please follow up with your GM's in person. You can't trust a phone call. Show up without them having the time to prepare. Check on your hotels so you can really see what's going on. Conduct real evaluations. Talk to the hourly associates and see what they need and if they're happy. Even as a salaried manager, I was invisible to corporate. I had nowhere to turn when I was mistreated and reached a point where I had no choice but to quit. It was the most unprofessional work environment I've ever been a part of.
