I worked at J. C. Penney part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Good seasonal job, people were nice, lots of treats and goodies from management. Pay was slightly above minimum, which was a plus!

Cons

Doing all training via computer programs was no substitute for good hands on training. Most of what I learned was actually through working on the floor.

I have been working at J. C. Penney part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice coworkers, incentives for pushing credit, occasionally they will throw little break room parties(that has stopped since johnson got here though, why waste money on the employees seems to be the motto now)

    Cons

Worst management ever, I have to train the management even though I am a cashier, Absolutely no direction, No hours, They want too much for too little pay, Dead end job they do NOT promote from within, Love to criticize and tear you down, Management is extremely lazy and worthless. All of the computers/pos systems are in terrible condition and they will not replace. Morale is extremely low since johnson moved in the company.

    Advice to Management

Do your job! Quit hiding in the back room, and avoiding problem customers. Help out with go-backs. Respond to people who need help on the walkie. Train yourself on the register so you know what is going on.

    I worked at J. C. Penney full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

People you work with are good. The company provides good benefits for their employees. Use to be a great place you would want to retire at.

    Cons

New direction of the company and attitude of new executives. New management does not care about its employees. Their decisions and actions are not in line with what they say to the employees in meetings.

    Advice to Management

Think about your employees not just of top management and their financial being.
