Pros

Most associates are dedicated and care about the customers.
Interacting with customers.
Associate discount is pretty good

Cons

Unrealistic expectations, too much to do with very little staff
Hours can be horrible during peak events
Clothing assortment has really become very poor

Advice to Management

Home office management is joke, need to live in reality. Take a step back and look what you are during to this company and it's employees.

    Pros

    No Pros any more as the company has changed.

    Cons

    The company has changed and no longer cares for it's associates. It's all about profits for the stock holders. Staff has been cut and service is poor because of it. Those who are left are over worked and show it in the attitues.

    Advice to Management

    Time to reorganize...again!

    I worked at J. C. Penney full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    flexible hours
    you can move to different departments to gain experience
    extra hours are always available

    Cons

    schedule will change at last minute without notice
    tedious work and lots of standing
    it is the cashiers job to recover but you can be yanked from the task that your doing to help recover the store
    No more night shift, It's very counter productive to try and recover the store while there are customers in the store
