I have been working at J. Crew part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Merchandise, employees, constant new stylish merchandise. Really did enjoy this job, great place to work and fantastic atmosphere.

Cons

Rules changing depending on manager, too many protocols to follow on one shift and you couldn't wear dresses or colored non-nude tights

Advice to Management

Keep all managment on same track, and keep smiling as always!

I have been working at J. Crew full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

2 weeks vacation, discount is amazing, fun to install creatives, decent pay for college workers, great retail experience, tons of room for evolution in the company, successful retailer, great co-workers, amazingly talented management

    Cons

People in corporate really don't care about who you are, or what your name is, regardless of the amount of times you may meet then/work along side them. In which case, it is really difficult to move up to corporate as a merchandiser.

    Advice to Management

Corporate really needs to take the time to acknowledge the hard working visual's in the company, because they are the ones portraying the image of the company to the customer's eye first hand. Who wants to work for a company whose corporate workers don't respect them?

I worked at J. Crew full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The employee discount was great. It was a fun place to work, depending on who the store manager was. The pay was really good when I started. I believe that, since that time, they've lowered the pay.

    Cons

If you had a bad store manager, it literally affected the entire store. I didn't enjoy having to tell people when I was leaving the floor to go to the restroom. It felt a little like elementary school.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like grown-ups, please.
