I worked at J. Crew full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Great company to work for if you like to be on your feet and meeting new people. Discount and other perks are great.

Cons

Working holidays and retail hours can be tiring at times. It's hard to move up the ranks fast. Have to be well liked to even be considered. Not about just getting the job done but looking good doing it and being popular amongst the staff.

Advice to Management

Don't be so secretive about everything. It makes the staff feel uncomfortable. Appreciate the staff once in a while instead of just taking the store director in the office and talking for hours. Be on the sales floor and see what the staff is doing and how it feels.

I have been working at J. Crew part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Alot of hours and great staff. Room to move up in company.

    Cons

Management was constantly being moved around to different stores, including store manager, and so we were constantly having to adopt to new rules. Overall, if your going to work in retail J. Crew is one of the few places I actually recommend to people.

    Advice to Management

When you move to a new store take into consideration the staff who has been working there for many years most of which know the ins and outs of retail. Listen to what they have to say instead of thinking you have all the answers.

    Pros

Great work life balance. People are great here and the working environment and offices are beautiful.

    Cons

J.Crew has the potential to be a much more innovative company. Can be very stressful due to management and organization. There are aspects of management here that are is not great.
