I have been working at J.P. Morgan full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Hires from within.

Encourages mobility within the company but needs full actionable support from your manager to make it happen. Difficult if you are a critical member of the team.

Cons

Salary increase is minimal (0-2%>) once you are in doesn't cut it.. So make sure to negotiate the max up front.

Lots of red-tape when you work with IT...too many sheeps. Probably the worst in my experience.

Advice to Management

Reduce layers of bureaucracy. Make processes more efficient. Provide competitive salary increase to keep valuable employees. Too many layers of red-tape kills creativity and innovation.

Need to include Sabbatical in benefits to compete with other companies in same industry.

I have been working at J.P. Morgan as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Highly sophisticated resources, very well developed internship program, excellent compensation. They fly you to NYC where you train for 3 days, including hearing some great keynote speakers from some of the highest echelons of the company. I was surprised at how structured the internship is. They really invest a lot in you. Another thing that seems promising is that they seem pretty open to your suggestions about where you would like to go/what you would like to do for your full-time experience, assuming you get the offer.

    Cons

Long hours. Usually get in aroun 7 am and leave between 7-10pm. That's mostly okay though because if you stay past 8 they pay for your dinner.

    Advice to Management

None! Management here is top notch. They really try to make themselves available to everyone. All you have to do is ask!

I have been working at J.P. Morgan full-time

    Pros

Abundance of resources to learn other lines of businesses. Plenty of opportunities to move around, though some walls do exist between groups.

    Cons

There can be lots of red tape when trying to move to another group at times. Also good banking opportunities are limited to chicago and nyc, with a few in california.

    Advice to Management

Cut the red tape on promotions, change, and moving within the firm. Managers are told to promote moving around the firm. They should listen!
