I have been working at J.P. Morgan full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You have the chance to play with some good tools and experience good projects
Rollout of updated software is quicker than some companies
    Benefits are fairly generous

    Cons

Too much red tape to get to the tools you need.
Lack of focus on the developer environment and too much focus on a common environment for all.
In some areas outsourcing developers is the rule.

    Advice to Management

Cut the red tape for developers. It is too hard to learn new techniques and software practices during work hours because the common desktop prevents software found from trusted partners to be installed without elevated access rights. I'm sorry, but your internal training doesn't have the all of the answers and is too slow to adopt new ones.
