I have been working at J.P. Morgan full-time

Pros

The people that I work with are driven to care for each other and the customer. Smart and assertive, highly motivated. Company has clear goals that can inspire your daily activities.

Cons

If you're coming in from a software or consulting agency, the corporate environment can feel obtuse and impeding. It's not a nimble ship. Instead, it's a slow turning frigate.

    Pros

I'm sure there could be pros, but not working in a dysfunctional unit where everyone was quitting because of horrible, unorganized managers. Hopefully in other groups or areas, it runs better.

    Cons

    1) Working for someone who had no reason, training, or knowledge of being a team lead.
    2) having nothing to do for months on end because your manager didn't know how to delegate work because she's used to doing it all herself.
    3) Not making sure your open req was going to be an actual position before hiring someone

    Advice to Management

Make sure your low level manager actually know how to manage before hiring to fill positions.
Also make sure before approving a new req, make sure its something that is an actual need in the company and the new manager will know how to delegate work to employees so they do not sit around for months with no work.
Finally, if an employee needs to go above your poor manager's head, teach them to grow up and act like a manager and stop holding a grudge and hold a personal vendetta against you until they force you out the door by any means necessary.

I worked at J.P. Morgan full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits and training in the very beginning is helpful. Some departments will value opinions of everyone and take questions back to the powers-that-be.

    Cons

Constant changing of what they doing and why. Next to no notice with changing of policies without disciplinary action depending on the department. Lay offs without notice

    Advice to Management

    Lighten up
