I have been working at J.P. Morgan full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

it is very stable, never heard any layoffs, at least in our department. So a good place for your life before retirement

Cons

more than half of people know nothing and do nothing. I guess it is true for most giant firms. So your pay gets diluted. Even if you are a super star, does not make much difference. after merger with Bear, you can tell the difference between Bear and JPM people. The former are top notch for sure, far more knowledgeable and productive. BTW, I am not ex-Bear. Mediocre wins and management plays favorites.

Advice to Management

pay the out performers more generously. 80% work done by 20%. So should pay accordingly

I worked at J.P. Morgan full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good to great benefits, Diversity was outstanding

    Cons

No advancement, unless you know someone internally... some positions can be available but you have to go thru the whole motion of applying, just to learn that someone else got it.. as the saying goes ... it's not what you know but who you know... Cannot keep up with the changes.... Some supervisors are as arrogant as they can come.... they seem geared to have you set up for failure if you're not liked... very discouraging...

    Advice to Management

Be more interactive with your peers, instead of planning where will you have lunch... or what will you do on your weekends...

I have been working at J.P. Morgan full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The inclusive environment. You can join any type of community to help network with other people in the company

    Cons

I felt as if I was a used car sales man. It was sell, sell, sell. Also, the way to sell was very specific. Follow these steps exactly.

    Advice to Management

Change the priority to customer service and more will be sold.
