Good company as long as you are a top performer.

I have been working at JELD-WEN full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Somewhat flexible hours. General freedom in how to approach issues. No micromanagement. Very nice and knowledgeable team lead and senior developer.

    Cons

Average wages. Little to no advancement (perhaps mostly economic). Hectic work environment. No cross-department oversight of project development. Little communication between departments that are dependent on each other.

    Advice to Management

Treat this position (product data programmer) as a skilled position to foster specialization and productivity, instead of a test bed for fledgling programmers looking to quickly move on (higher pay, attention of upper management). This is being done somewhat now, but the past effects of this attitude have lead to many current difficulties. Also, projects need greater attention to base design before work is started, forward-looking goals instead of emergency-based responses.

    I worked at JELD-WEN full-time

    Pros

Its a stretch to say that there were any pros working at jeldwen, other than the factory had good lighting.

    Cons

Everything, the management was good, the work was boring and repetitive, you have to deal with lots of temps constantly coming in and out. Also some times you have to deal with multiple managers at the same time and they expect you to complete workloads equivalent to 3 people. If you show that your capable you will get exploited..

    Advice to Management

Hire people with morals and brains.
