Pros

Pay is good, awesome neighborhood to work in, lots of potential, many talented individuals, new VP has done a great job breaking the ice of communication with the rest of the plant.

Cons

Lack of training or improper training, work load is not evenly dispersed among employees, those who make the effort to work harder seem to also be the ones management blames when something does not go according to plan.

Advice to Management

I understand the high stress that comes with your position, but please don't pass the blame when thing don't go according to plan on the ones who are carrying the heaviest loads.

Please pay attention to who is doing the work and who is not. Make some kind of effort to hold those not making the effort to work accountable.

    I worked at JHP Pharmaceuticals full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    There are few. Some good employees that are loyal and hardworking. Skilled trades who truly wanted to do there best despite the lack of resources and training. When a product leaves the facility, it is high quality, although many lots are scrapped to get lots that meet requirements. There are many long time employees that have worked at the site for over 25 years and will help you whenever they have time. Time is key word. Ok benefits and pay.

    Cons

    Upper management including all directors do not have a pulse of the work force. The hours are very long for managers and deadlines are unreasonably short. Many directors are clearly the worst micro-managers I have ever witnessed. Many of the directors have no expertise in the particular department they oversee. Other directors, who by degree and educational background do not understand the fundamentals or the technical aspects which they were educated. Do not count on help or resources from upper management. Basic supplies and employee facilities including lunch room and bathrooms are not supplied at all. Bathrooms are few and far between. Go before you leave home. Long walk to work from the outside of campus parking lot, although contractors are welcome. Lots of parking on campus. None of it used. Bring an umbrella and boots.

    Advice to Management

    You need to understand that everyone wants to do a great job. It helps if you speak to them when they are doing a good job. There are very few opportunities for advancement if any. Look at what the employees are doing and if thier job has slowly turned into a clerical position which clearly is not what they hired in for, they will not be happy. Way to many demands and well thought out employee recommendation fall on deaf ears. Change is good, better start now or employee turnover will continue at the extreme rate it is at now. You paid a lot of money to find me and others and hire us, yet you really didnt care about keeping us. Some of the long time employees might be stuck, others who have seen other manufacturing culture don't have to. We will leave when abused enough.

    Pros

    Pretty location, nice technicians, big annual bonus, benefits are adequate.

    Cons

    Upper management is incompetent and reactive, site has outdated systems, Quality is an unwelcome afterthought. Very high turnover.

    Advice to Management

    Your job is to provide tools and resources for your people to be able to do their jobs. Being secretive and fighting with other managers and directors undermines your credibility and effectiveness. Learn to be proactive and solutions-oriented, and take responsibility for your mistakes.

    Try investing in industry training courses for your people rather than wasting money on firing and re-hiring new employees. (Training course for 1 person, including travel and accommodations = ~$5000.00; Firing someone and hiring a replacement because of the Director's insecurity and arrogance = ~$120,000.00). You are bleeding money because of your turnover alone.

    Finally, if you show confidence in your direct reports and others in different departments instead of arrogance, mistrust and insecurity, you would greatly reduce stress and increase productivity of the people you interact with daily.
