I have been working at Jacobs full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

People in my department are very good to work with. Everyone will work together to accomplish a common goal. This has made the department very productive.

    Cons

Last few years less focus on the employee. Even thought our department does more with fewer people, management does not seem to realize that.

    Advice to Management

Take time to get to know what your employees are doing. What their skills set are so you can move them to another Tybrin position if the need arises

I have been working at Jacobs full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Let people work on their own (trust) with minimal oversight.

    Cons

Moving up requires entry into 'the club'. You have to be mobile and not a complainer.
Risk of layoff if projects are slow coming in the door.
Willingness to relocate is a requirement as one advances in the company.

    Advice to Management

Spend more effort showing employees that they are important to the organization.
Tell work force what's going on, be more present and more accessible.
