I worked at Jason's Deli full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

You get to try new food products
You get discounted meals
Plenty of opportunity to work extra hours
Pay is ok for what it is

Cons

Working with fresh foods leads to extensive scrap/waste
Have to clean up after diners (but what do you expect?)

Advice to Management

Keep up the expansion process. Great to see Jason's Deli in new locales like Illinois.

I worked at Jason's Deli full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

High standards in terms of food quality. Fresh produce, other than the soups most items are made daily. Decent hours.

    Cons

Low pay, no recognition, jaded staff. We had four managers quit in an eight month period. The staff moral was so low that most of the work conversation focused on how no one wanted to be at there, or attempting to find a new job.

    Advice to Management

Up the pay. Minimum wage for the work I did is insulting. Hire better managers, not just guys who come in having no clue what's going on. At the end of the day, thank the people who work there. They will appreciate coming into work if they feel they're effort was appreciated. My current job, the owner shakes my hand at the end of the day and tells me that I did a good job. Small gesture, makes my day.

  2. "It was a decent first job experience, however, I was not given useful advice for advancing my position in the job."

I worked at Jason's Deli part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Diverse work force made work more fun and engaging.

    Cons

Manager Training Store did not focus on employee development as much as manager development.

    Advice to Management

Advise new teen employees that in order to receive more hours they need to learn different positions.
