Pros

turnover seems low here. the people are generally quite nice and management is very approachable. you're trusted to do your work without any micro-managing.

Cons

being smart doesn't necessarily mean anything - it's about who you have drinks with. communication from upper management is minimal, so you don't always know what's about to hit the fan.

I worked at Javelin Agency full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Tough work environment that will force you to get creative with your solutions, every day a mental challenge
    - You will become very effective when it comes to selling yourself and your work because the deck is very much stacked against you

    Cons

    - Leadership is virtually non-existent and largely incompetent
    - Technical solutions are smoke and mirrors
    - No recognition of talent if you're a developer: if you write code, you're treated as an expendable cog, worked into the ground, and replaced once you've burned out
    - Blame always used in place of actual solutions to a problem, problems are swept under the rug only to be uncovered again and again
    - Company culture is very much dog-eat-dog, you will be on pins and needles 24/7

    Advice to Management

    - Take responsibility
    - Address problems, don't point fingers and allow them to continue

    Pros

    - Laid back work environment.
    - Get paid reliably regardless of effort put forth.
    - Get a few easy title-bumps for your next job transition.

    Cons

    - Laid off employees repeatedly. Cycles of hiring in between. General churn as well.
    - Suggestions for process improvement went largely ignored if coming from below. Quality training was difficult to obtain, often mismatched or mundane and dispensed for the sake of filling quotas.
    - Management or team leads were hired from outside, instead of promoting strong leaders within existing groups. Leads to a lot of resentment when talented people get overlooked.
    - Bad leadership from top down. Ridiculous self-serving branding gymnastics, turning one company into three brands depending on who is asking, essentially.

    Advice to Management

    Nope.
