Pros

If you've reached this point, you're looking for answers. The answer is no. It's not you or no amount of money is worth it. Seriously - the mission is wonderful but the culture is so toxic - it's simply not worth it.

Cons

The CEO systematically picks off employees on the leadership team. She bullies and/or harasses whoever her current target is into resigning or accepting a position beneath them. A little restructuring is always expected during with new leadership but the turnover that increased with the current CEO has only gotten more intense during her management of the organization. She uses her celebrity to court top professionals to the company but lacks the management skills to keep them or coach them to get results. So instead she burns them out by threat or force. In the last two years, multiple heads of departments have left under mysterious circumstances and the toxicity trickles down. The best of the department leaders are stressed under threat of retaliatory behavior. The Board either doesn't know, doesn't care or are friends who were installed to keep quiet.

Pros

Jeremiah Program is super mission-driven, and it shows in the passion of the staff. The team culture is supportive and collaborative, and the people you meet are genuinely amazing. Chastity, the CEO, is great. She’s warm and welcoming, even hugs you just to say hello and thank you without asking about your position and title. I have never had this experience with a CEO and it makes you feel seen. The work is really rewarding, and the kids are the absolute best part. Hearing their stories makes it worth it if you love this work. The community support is awesome as well.

Cons

There are huge challenges with structure, communication, and workload balance. Processes aren’t always clear, which can make things inefficient depending on the team or department. Staff retention is talked about a lot, but follow-through is inconsistent. There’s also a communication gap between CST and onsite staff that hasn’t really changed over the years I've been here. The workload and pressure can be intense, and burnout is real—I honestly felt more burned out here than anywhere else I’ve worked. There are basically no professional growth opportunities, and it’s hard to see a long-term path within the company.
