I have been working at JoS. A. Bank part-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Manager was very lenient to accommodate my schedule, makes the best of friends, good way to build clientele and resources for other opportunities.

Cons

Company does not recognizes the employees as hard workers, must sell high in order to be paid well, in-store employees being abused by customers while corporate employees deal with a less angered customer, Absurdly long hours during the holidays, corporate team continues to add new ways of doing business when employees are trying to figure out the last way of sales practice.

Advice to Management

Please listen to the employees. They are in the stores every single day dealing with unhappy customers and being paid so little does not help an employee stay positive. Slow down on the inventory, the stores that are smaller are receiving complaints from the customers about the lack of space in the environment. Employees that are able to do more than just sell like tuxedo rental, tailoring, etc., should be recognized and paid evenly as if they were only selling.

    Pros

The job itself isn't bad. You can make some decent money around the holidays when sales are high.

    Cons

During slow periods commission isn't a real thing. There are more employees than customers most of the time so nobody can make any money.

    Advice to Management

The commission structure sucks. There is no motivation to sell at the end of the week when you're nowhere near meeting your draw. Also, there is no reason to be open till 9 on holidays let alone be open at all.

I have been working at JoS. A. Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Relaxed and laid back. You need to mange your time well and everything else fall in place by itself

    Cons

They should not have married Mens Wearhouse. It'a a buzz kill for corporate employee and now we have to look opportunities outside of JAB.

    Advice to Management

Start spreading the wealth and treat people fair and square. I understand the management needs to think about the shareholders' but what about the employees. Will have to wait and watch what Mens wearhouse transaction has in store for JAB employees.
