Pros

Great platform to conduct science with huge amount of resources and multiple opportunities to expose and communicate. Funding is less a problem.

Cons

Less chances for immigrant scientists to grow and promote. Competition is tough. The fast working pace and high research goals drove people work day and night here. Poor work/life balance.

Advice to Management

Hard to get feedback for your performance. Perhaps PIs and management persons could give employees an evaluation/annual report each year so that you know whether you reach the expectation of employers rather than having to guess what they are thinking.

    Pros

Lots of networking opportunities. Make sure that you are not that person staying 24 hours in lab. Go out and talk with people!

    Cons

Never feel comfortable unless you are funded by you own because most of peers are funded by federal or state funding.

    Advice to Management

Applying to either funding or fellowship as early as possible. But work hard and work smart. Remember research is only part of your life.
