Approves of CEO

I have been working at Johnson Controls full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Excellent executive leadership in place. They run the business as a truly global multi-industry corporation. There is an excellent process for identifying, training and promoting internal talent.

Cons

Divisional competition. Oftentimes the individual divisions operate too independently and don't take into consideration the overall profitability of the corporation as a whole.

Advice to Management

Continue the focus on people development at a rate you invest in technology and innovation.

I have been working at Johnson Controls full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lower management cares about employees and tries to maintain a small company feel. Numerous positions within the organization so you may be able to transfer to another group to try something new.

    Cons

Automotive division is in flux with electronics being sold, visors & headliners being sold, and a joint venture happening soon for interiors. Many people are nervous about losing their job or the Holland facility closing. Although this can happen at any company, many people are anxious about not knowing the future of the Holland campus.

Numerous levels of upper management with people or structure changing every 1 to 2 years. Company has a "large company" feel.

    Advice to Management

Cut some layers of upper management. Stop reorganizing. Pick a structure and stick to it.

I have been working at Johnson Controls full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

There are many great resources for employees to grow and learn
The pay is fair, but not great.
Good local mid-management who care about the staff.

    Cons

There is a disconnect between the corporate management and local management.
The company appears to be diversifying without the expertise in place.

    Advice to Management

The organization needs to focus on the employees more. They seem to be pushing forward opposite of what made them such a long term success.
