I worked at Johnson & Johnson as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Very good management and talented co-workers
    - Exposure to different areas of IT (Delivery Management, Creative (Web, mobile, etc), and business sectors (Consumer, Pharma, MD&D)
    - Was able to work from home or local office location on multiple occasions, becasue of lenghty commute

    Cons

-Difficult to get a full time position, unless you have a unique specialty or possibly know someone.
-Definitely distinguishes between contractor and full time worker, but expected in larger company.
-Two year limitation for independent contractors.

    I worked at Johnson & Johnson full-time

    Pros

Employees, in my experience, really do care about and take the Credo seriously. They work for Johnson & Johnson, not just for the prestige, but because they believe they are truly doing something good for the world (Medical Devices and Pharmaceuticals, I do not have the experience to speak to Consumer Products). They also have excellent management training and there is a strong effort to help individuals build long-term careers within the organization.

    Cons

Generally speaking, the pay is lower in comparison to other companies in the same industries (for the same level of work).

    Advice to Management

While the company is very adept at attracting talent in general, I believe the company needs to develop a better understanding of how to attract and retain globally minded talent, particularly those in careers outside of the scientific and engineering communities.
