I worked at Juniper Networks as a contractor

Pros

A lot of great people. Lots of talent and drive, but managers tend to micromanage in certain areas, especially in upper middle management levels.

Cons

No strong leadership, a lot of turnover. For lack of a better term, wishy-washy. Very little in the way of overall vision and follow-through. When the occasional dead wood crops up, a more efficient way to prune under-performing employees would be helpful.

Advice to Management

Develop an overall corporate vision, get your managers on board, and let the people who do the work DO the work.

I worked at Juniper Networks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Powerful hardware, works as advertised. Software is very tight and well management. Solid R&D investments. Technical support to customers was well liked by the customer base. The customer facing teamwork is available and presents well.

    Cons

A fair number of executives are self servicing enough that the customers feel neglected. The influx of Microsoft alumni weakened the corporate culture. PC guys are not natural data com guys. The tools are all there to beat the competition and the product roadmap is good. They must adapt to the new paradigm of virtual networking. The turnover was disconcerting causing constant policy changes.
