I have been working at Juniper Networks full-time (More than a year)

Pros

The salary and benefits are very competitive, and the work-life balance is very flexible. Managers do not mind if you work from home often or frequently take time off for personal reasons. The products Juniper makes are widely used and there are plenty of chances to make lasting industry connections at this company.

Cons

This company's culture is very competitive, and not in a good way. People are very hostile towards employees who work for other teams. If you take a job here, you will spend a significant amount of time arguing over which team is responsible whenever there's a problem.

Additionally, managers tend to follow a "by the books" approach and will make decisions based on what's safest for themselves instead of what's best for the company. New features are often released days after they are implemented with little/no formal testing because managers do not want to tell customer support that the customer's requests couldn't be immediately fulfilled. I've never seen anyone get reprimanded for making a change that broke a product, but it's still frustrating to know that you caused a problem that could have prevented with a little more patience and testing.

Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to deny customer's requests when they want you to do something wreckless. There are a lot more problems when a bunch of networks go down than there are when an ISP has to wait an extra 3 months for something they've been doing fine without for years.

I worked at Juniper Networks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people are very nice, not a lot of office politics, new campus is nice, decent food options, easy commute.

    Cons

Where to begin? Somewhere between the amateur product launches, the lack of innovation in security, and the myopic view of GTM strategy, Juniper has really lost it's way. And now with a retrenchment in SDN, Security, a new CEO, an investor rebellion (actually surrender - it's amazing how much we caved after our most successful year ever), and the massive layoffs, all of the good people are voting with their feet and finding the exits. What you have left is a cadre of mediocre, long tenured "B" and "C" players who are being asked to reinvent Juniper without any consequence for their poor decisions of the past 4-5 years that have left Juniper so vulnerable. It is all pretty sad because they build aspirational products that can compete with any competitor, however they are just beyond lost when it comes to operations and executing a business strategy. My prediction - within 36 months Juniper will be sold. It did not have to be this way, but it is what it is...

    Advice to Management

Fire yourselves immediately!!! Or stay the course, ride the elevator to the bottom, and collect your stock parachutes when you are bought and given a ridiculous severance package. I'm sure someone will be impressed with your experience and give you another shot!
