    Cons

You have to be flexible in regards to oft-changing policies and processes as this company scales. Compensation could be more competitive.

I have been working at Justworks full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

While I can't speak to other departments, the sales department is very transparent and has provided clear paths for progression & compensation increases for sales reps. They do need to work on getting to the same level of transparency for management positions but it appears the leadership is actively working on it. I think a lot of these "negative" reviews, while may have some justification to them, could also... be poor expectation setting upfront. Justworks is NOT a fortune 500 company that has been around for decades and has over time developed proven progression paths and compensation rates. We're less than 7 years old and we just recently got to the size we're at. Just like how children have growing pains, so do fast growing startups. But we're learning, we're adapting, and striving to continuously take care of our employees. I mean, what company gives their employees a stipend to travel anywhere in the world and work remotely for a week? Yes, our salaries may not be in the TOP percentile, we're average. And know what, I'd prefer that. Because I'd rather that money go into us accelerating our growth and making the equity we ALL get grow in worth. Cause I have a feeling rate the value of our equity is growing is exponentially higher than any 401k or day trading rates I could get. But I think a lot of people are so focused on the here & now, they don't factor in the long term benefits. Plus it's not like we're working in a boiler room company. We have amazing coworkers in an open floor plan, the new office coming in April looks legit, team events every month, dogs in the office, huge company wide events at least once a quarter (we rented out Medieval Times once!), Health Insurance paid for, Free membership to Talkspace because this company wants to take care of our mental health too, unlimited PTO, ClassPass partnership, Leadership that literally shares in depth financial #'s with all employees. (Try to get that from Facebook, Google, or Amazon). And 40hr work weeks. Yes we do have seasonality and we may have some longer work weeks during a few busy months. But over all work/life balance is amazing here compared to other companies. Yes you can go get paid more somewhere else, but almost everyone I've seen do that has always expressed some regret on leaving at one time or another. Yes there can be better companies out there for individual people, we can't be all things to all people. But I'd say for the majority Justworks is a pretty great place to work and build a career.

    Cons

Internal/interdepartmental communications can improve. It's nothing detrimental but it seems departments have started to get silo'd compared to what it used to be. I'd like to hear more updates on what Product is working on, or what marketing has planned for us, or how we're doing over in Customer Success. I also think because of our growth we've been pressured to hire quickly and with that we may be making... decisions to bring on people that in the past we may have passed on. As well as us not communicating effectively to candidates what it means to be an employee of Justworks and some of the sacrifices we make to ensure this company and it's employees keeps seeing the success we've had up to this point. Just going back to proper expectation setting.

    Advice to Management

So I think with the theme of expectation setting, it means leadership has to reflect on the company and admit to things we do well and things we DON'T do well. Then be upfront about them with both your employees and candidates. But also always be identifying how we can improve on the things this company doesn't do well. Just works is a very transparent company and I've very happy to be part of it. That's why I... believe this advice won't go unheard and may lead to some positive outcomes.
