Pros
Some professors, particularly at the Culture Technology Graduate School are great to work with, very knowledgeable and serious about research. The pay depends on each Lab's funding but was appropriate in my case. The facilities are nice, staff is friendly and the organization is efficient.
Cons
The working culture in general is very unhealthy, no work-life balance and strong power dynamics between professors and student researchers. Probably partly due to this students and researchers are often exhausted and not very social.
