I worked at KPMG full-time

Pros

given responsibility, trusted by management, your opinions matter, great & fun teams to work with (makes time go by faster), smart colleagues to work with, learn a lot in short period of time (soft skiils, technical skills, about businesses, and ofcourse audit skills), which is beneficial for future and present, great resume builder.

Cons

work-life balance not possible...audit deadlines not just during busy season but year-around mostly. audit work a lot of times tedious..harder to see the bigger picture. out of office almost all the time...no permanent office since always moving from client to client. Pay not comparable to amount of hours invested. Very possible to find better paying jobs with your skill set.

I worked at KPMG full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good clients, fast paced, good reputation in general.

    Cons

Like many companies, it isn't what you know but who you know. Company is too big for its own good just like other companies of its ilk. Why anyone would really want to work for these types of companies is beyond me now. They are all like MLM companies but on a bigger scale. Start as a little minion and try and work your way up. You better be drinking the kool-aid and start in these companies early if you want any chance of success to make the big money at the partner level. Better find someone to be your guardian angel along the way as well.

    Advice to Management

Look beyond the reviews of people as they are often just about the personal relationships people have rather than their professional ones.

    Pros

If you are able to transition clients you can get a good deal of experience in multiple industries. Good work-life balance.

    Cons

Hard to transfer to different practices within the firm. Promotions dont always seem fair. Most advisory work is not very technical and very business process oriented.
