I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Being able to work with lots of young, talented, driven, and energetic people.
Ability to work for several different companies and gain an understanding of business processes and activities.
Flexibility to adjust your schedule where needed later in your career.
Steep learning curve gives people the opportunity to be able to make decisions confidently.
Ability to make great relationships with lots of influential people at the clients you serve.

    Cons

There are a lot of instances where KPMG halts it's own potential progress with bureaucratic red tape and inability to make a decision and stick with it.
They will work their people a lot harder if their employees allow it and will generally not end up paying what the 'going rate' for their employee experiences really is (i.e. they will be paying what the other Big 4 firms pay, or at least close, but because that is what the other firms pay doesn't necessarily mean that's the market rate for those same people).
There are a lot of administrative requirements that become more and more evident, that take away from what people truly enjoyed doing earlier in their careers, as you progress with the firm.
No true 'upside' to doing your job well in terms of seeing rewards for doing a job better in the current year than what was done in the prior years (speaking specifically to profitability, efficiency, or client relationships).

    Advice to Management

Listen to what your employees are saying and try to make decisions that not only benefit the company but also what would make your employees happy - they are the people who are the 'workhorses' of the business and they need to be happy to create a positive culture you're seeking.
