I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

International firm that allows one to build strong foundations in accounting.
Good exposure to corporates that allows one to appreciate their business models.
Interesting work, but only when one is promoted to a senior associate level. Project management and accounting skills are highly transferrable to many fields of work should one decide to leave.
Specialty in an industry/sector presents good exit opportunities.

    Cons

    Long hours and tight deadlines.
Poor work life balance. Managers and Partners are way too busy to make informed decisions or provide guidance to lower level employees. The big 4s operate in an very competitive environment with little value proposition to clients. Resulting in cut throat competition with increased pressure on fees. This translates to lower and less competitive compensation to retain staff.

    Advice to Management

Develop employees and know them at a personal level. Invest in technology to yield greater efficiencies in workflow.
