I worked at KPMG full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

- Fabulous opportunity to gain experience
- Translatable skills to many other careers
- Highly respected on your resume

Cons

- Bad work/life balance
- Really depends on who is on your team and what clients you are working for
- Doesn't pay nearly as well as comparable positions outside Big 4
- Time tracking and billable hours is SOOOO stressful

Advice to Management

Hire more staff, scope projects more realistically, reward performance with higher bonuses, make more of an effort to hold on to your best employees

I worked at KPMG full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Exposure to many companies and industries
    Excellent training opportunities
    Networking with colleagues and clients
Various projects provide an opportunity to find your strengths

Having KPMG on the resume opens a lot of doors

    Cons

    Long hours
    Several projects were understaffed

There is a lot of travel which can be a desired attribute until it wears on you.

While having KPMG on the resume opens doors, coming from Advisory/Consulting, it is sometimes hard to explain or relate that experience in accounting interviews. Hiring managers typically come from Audit and they expect audit experience. Make sure that you are exposed to external audit engagements.

    Advice to Management

Look for signs that travel is wearing on good staff/managers.
