I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Opportunity, benefits, flexibility, genuinely good people and a generally supportive work environment -- they are really trying to move ahead of the competition and doing a lot of around high performance, employer of choice, to get there -- it is a supportive culture

Cons

A great deal of shifting around in the international space, doesn't really affect the US firm but if you're working in any capacity that touches on global you will be driven crazy by changes in direction, constant addition of responsibility with no commensure increase in compensation, constant need for consensus in decision making slows us down and makes it very difficult to make progress -- worklife balance? what's that?

Advice to Management

Either decide to be a federation of independent member firms and forget trying to have a global organization OR create a real global organization with decisionmaking capabilities

I have been working at KPMG full-time

    Pros

Smart people, great projects, good opportunities for those starting out. Excellent brand and great clients.

    Cons

Leadership wants to be Accenture, stop trying, be good at what you are good at... Also, insane org structure leads to fragmented teams, and a culture of charge-ability at all costs

    Advice to Management

Stop DE hiring, kills the culture, kills opportunity for everyone. Stop trying to chase profit above all, and actually be good at something that someone else hasn't beaten you to it..

I have been working at KPMG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Guaranteed promotion, lots of personal time and a flexible schedule, learn quickly, good exposure to a variety of businesses and senior management.

    Cons

No ability to reward top performers, long hours, difficult horizontal movement into different files, pay is low for hours over all.

    Advice to Management

Compensation for top performers, ability to identify and provide opportunities to hard workers. Better compensation overall.
